Project Details:

Roller-compacted concrete (RCC) pavement was chosen for this project because of the speed of construction, not only reducing the paving duration, but also the overall project construction time. Additional reasons include savings on initial cost, durability, and low maintenance requirements resulting in significant cost savings over the service life of the pavement.

To optimize the civil design for RCC paving over large paving areas, storm water drainage was routed through open channels instead of typical underground drainage structures and pipes. This approach insured cost savings related to mass grading, underground utilities, base layer placement, and RCC surface layer placement, all of which were performed by Morgan Corp.
