Project Details

The Port of Beaumont South Truck Queuing Yard is a vital infrastructure project designed to support one of the busiest ports for military equipment in the world. With constant high traffic and heavy loads, it was vital to produce a reliable foundation to help alleviate excessive congestion and stand up to the wear and tear of both commercial and concentrated loads. Completed in February 2026, the project features 90,157 square yards of heavy-duty pavement. The structural design includes a 12-inch lime stabilized subgrade, an 8-inch compacted base, and a dual lift 18-inch Roller-Compacted Concrete (RCC) surface. The project was completed by Trans-Global Solutions as the general contractor, with Rollcon, LLC serving as the paving contractor. The RCC mix was mixed using a Rapid Mix 600C and placed using ABG 9820 and 8820 machines.

Following the success of the Port’s first RCC project in 2022, leadership once again selected Rollcon, LLC to install RCC for the new queuing yard. The team chose this material specifically for its incredible construction speed. The formless paving process allowed the port to get the yard operational much faster than traditional paving methods. RCC also provided a highly cost-effective solution, delivering heavy-duty strength without the added expense of steel reinforcement or excessive labor costs.

Beyond its budget benefits, RCC delivers unmatched durability for this demanding environment. The rugged, low-maintenance surface easily withstands massive axle loads and the constant stop-and-go traffic typical of a busy port. Because the Port of Beaumont handles substantial military logistics, it required a true “mission-critical” pavement. To answer this need, the Beaumont project uniquely engineered the RCC yard to support not only commercial freight but also the massive, concentrated loads of heavy tracked vehicles and specialized project cargo that cause other pavements to fail over time.
