GENERAL CONTRACTOR: Shaw Group
PAVING MACHINE: Volvo ABG 7820

COMPLETION DATE: 2011
PROJECT DETAILS: The employee parking lot encompasses approximately 45 acres. With technical assistance from the Portland Cement Association, Morgan Corp. offered a value-engineered proposal to convert the pavement from flexible to 4” RCC over 6” cement treated soil base. The RCC option provided higher structural capacity, 25% construction cost savings, fast opening to traffic, 50% reduction of illumination power, and additional sustainable attributes by maximizing the use of in-situ materials. Building on the success of RCC for the 45-acre parking lot, the Southern Company selected RCC for all remaining pavements at the project. Morgan Corp. completed a total of 75 acres of RCC pavements at the site, which included 4, 7, 10, and 18” thick RCC pavements.
