PROJECT DETAILS

The NC 540 Triangle Expressway Southeast Extension project, owned by NCDOT and NCTA, is a major infrastructure development aimed at improving connectivity in Garner, North Carolina. Designed and managed by the Lane-Blythe Construction JV, this extensive project included approximately 220,416 square yards of roller-compacted concrete (RCC) shoulder pavement, placed by Andale Construction, Inc. using a High-Density paving machine and mixed with a Rapid 400 mixing plant.

The choice of RCC was driven by its exceptional durability and ability to accelerate construction timelines. Despite its benefits, the project faced significant challenges, including delays and material shortages due to the onset of Covid-19. Spanning over three years, the project was completed in August of 2024, offering a durable and efficient solution for the region’s growing transportation needs.
